Ashurah

Okay from hababah Nur : things to do on Ashurah :
1. Fast
2. Complete bath before dhuhr and before bathing make many niats like taubah, to maintain chastity, make the body strong for ibadah, to be cured from all diseases.. Ulama here say that all the waters on the day of ashura will have the effect of zam zam in them.
3. Put kohl.. But for women, if ur eyes can be seen by non mahram men, then it’s impermissible. Only for women who wear burqa (niqab also cannot because can see eyes) or those staying at home.. Or while at home put then before going out wash off first.
4. Clip your nails
5. Visit an aalim, a religious scholars or ustadh.
6. Visit the sick
7. Be nice to children like giving them sweets
8. Do things to strengthen sillaturrahim like visiting ur aunts and uncles. Or give them a call.
9. Qiyamulail.
10. 4 rakaats of dhuha.. For those able to, do 50 surah ikhlas in each rakaat. Habib Umar said to do 1000 surah ikhlas for the day. This is taken from sayyidina Ali who said that whosoever reads surah ikhlas 1000 times on yaum Ashurah, Allah will gaze at him. And the moment you get the gaze of Allah, it’s  enough. He will never punish you, rather He will bring you close to Him.
11. Rub the head of the orphan.
12. Say hasbi Allahu wa ni’mal wakeel ni’mal maula wa ni’man naseer 70 times no evil will come to u this coming yr.

This day is special for many events to do with the Prophets.. Some of which: nabi Adam was created, nabi Nuuh ‘s ark landed on mt Judi and nabi Nuuh fasted to show shukr, and all human beings today came from those people who were in the ark. We are all descendants of the people in nabi Nuuh’ s ark. And nabi Yaqoub got eyesight back on this day, nabi Musa freed his people from Firaun on this day also and the Jews used to fast in shukr on Ashurah for this. And Rasulullah s.a.w said that we are closer to nabi Musa than the Jews so we should fast too.

According to another traditional report, transmitted by Maimun ibn Mihran on the authority of [Sayyidinaa] Ibn Abbas (May Allah ta’ ala be pleased with him and his father), Allah’s Messenger [Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim] also said:
If someone fast on the day of Ashura in Muharram, he will be granted the spiritual reward of ten   thousand angels [malak]. If someone fasts on the day of ‘Ashura’ in Muharram, he will be granted the spiritual reward of ten thousand angels [malak]. If someone fasts on the day of ‘Ashura; in Muharram, he will be granted the spiritual reward of ten thousand martyrs [shahid], as well as the spiritual reward of ten thousand pilgrims [hajj] and visitants [mu’tamir].

If someone strokes the head of an orphan with his hand on the day of ‘Ashura’ for every hair on the orphan’s head, Allah ta ála will promote him by one degree in the Garden of Paradise.
If someone provides a believer [mu’min] with a meal to break his fast on the night of ‘Ashura’, it will be just as if the entire Community [Umma] of Muhammad   had broken fast as his guests, and had filled their stomachs to capacity.

If someone pays a visit to a sick person on the day of ‘Ashura’, it is just as if he had visited all the children of [Sayyidinaa] Adam. If someone gives [a thirsty person] a drink of water on the day of ‘Ashura, it is just as if he had never disobeyed Allah ta ‘ala for a single instant.
